While I am assuming that this is a Shrapnel with the fuze hole listed at 2".
I presume no adapter and the 1907 Scoville time fuze is the correct type.
I have seen lots of range pick ups on U.S. sites, is this unfired body
worth while ? Scoville fuzes are not often encountered in Canada -
if ever.
There seem to be no markings and the body is smooth, doesn't look replated and not drilled for a lamp ?
Thoughts any one ~
I'm a bit out of my usual area of comfort on this ~ :tinysmile_eyebrow_t
It could be a ww1 contract piece - but I rather doubt it ? but stand to be corrected as so far I've only seen HE
without the double grooves -
Official notes on the types manufactured up here for the U.S. in 1918 (no mention of shrapnel) and an image that does seem to show 75 HE types and
what may or may not be 18Prs at the lower right. They have the look of a 75 with a thicker upper body and more distintive 75 shape ?
But what does the 3" AA projectile look like ?
Could this be a 3" AA HE but having of course a 2" openning for the time fuze instead of the PD types ?
