I have a couple of these adapters whose external shape is quite different
than the normal kind. I have assumed that these were not finished.
Yet other than the exterior not being stepped they are finished and even have
small markings on one. Is there possibley another explanation for this?
I have a hard time thinking the final machining was done with this on the projectile ?
Or was it ~

Hi Gordon, I have an adaptor which came with a 1906 no80 MK1, it is as per your right hand example. I have two ww1 era ones now and they are also as your right hand example. I think they are unfinished ones,or made by the likes of army and navy to convert shells to lamps or suchlike. All mine are multiple stamped. Cheers Tig
