Ive put a little talc on the bottom of most of the gear to make lettering stand out for the pics.

Thanks again SG,
How would you clean the base though mate?
I thought of a light rub with oil or WD40?

For me, I just leave alone. That way I don't do any damage and the base of the 8.8cm case looks fine.

waff,

those stencils are in cyrilic letters meaning 'antitank tracer M-39' which was standard designation for 88mm AT in yugoslav army.
also yugoslav army used 88mm recieved as war damage compensation till late 50s, after that those guns are transferred to territorial defense units (yugoslav national guard)

Thanks boys for the info.
Thats a nice proj you have there al`saad with an interesting story.

DJH,you never fail me on your informative write ups!

again cheers :tinysmile_grin_t:

Hi al`saad,
Is this is old german munition that was used by the Yugo army in the 1990`s?

cheers

waff

88mm guns and belonging shells were issued to yugoslavia as part of war damage amend after the second world war. certain number of those shells were repaired in yugoslav ordnance factories and equipped with yugoslav made fuses, while other were just refilled and equipped with original repaired fuses.

yugoslav peoples army used 88's until early 80's (acording to some info till 1983) in anti-personal, anti-aircraft and antitank role, and as coastal guns on adriatic sea islands. later they were issued to territorial defense and appeared in war during nineties.

same story is shared by united states M-18 and M-36 tank destroyers which were issued to yugoslavia due to agreement on foreign military help.

last combat use of these wwii relics on european soil was during 1999 in kosovo.
