I am doing some research on L116 fuzes. They always appear to "self neutralise" if they do not function i.e. the top gets knocked off and this removes the firing circuit, giving very safe blinds (if there is such a thing).
I would be grateful if anyone who has recovered UK 105mm or 155mm shells with L116 multi role fuze fitted could let me know if they have ever found one intact ... every one that I have ever found has had the top sheared off. Equally grateful for any observations which confirm my experience. I note from some of Spotter's pictures that he had at least one sheared L116.
