S-Mines

Hi,

I seemed to have started on another collecting tangent - this time its mines, having just purchased a Stock Mine to start things off. What price range would I be looking at for a reasonable quality S-Mine? The next item on my list.....

All the best

Justin

Waffy sold one recently for a vast amount of money , a reasonable price would be about 100 to 120 in desent condition , ive seen them recently sell on specialist auctions at that price , within the last 3 months

Hi Steve,

Thanks - I have just seen one at 325.00 but thats out of my range!

I will keep on eye on the auction site!

Justin

In my experience, Justin, a good SMi35 complete in all internal parts and outer plugs costs easily Lstg 150,-. With original colour, rare years of production (1938-41 and 45) and/or rare manufacturers (RR) it could also easily double.
But don't dispair, there are also lower priced pieces to find, mostly a little bit rusty and missing the one or other bit but spare parts are sometimes available as well!

The one JC militaria is selling is a one off over the top price (he is expensive anyway) pity the one who pays that price. The going price as Fuzman and sudelmuk states is the going price for a good one about 100-150. There are plenty about but you have to look. If you find any with missing top det and filler plugs and even the top nut (usualy happens when de-fuzed and made inert) i know a man who makes them with washers:tinysmile_classes_t.

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice - your a much friendlier bunch than the ones I have encounted on various car and diving related forums!

Hi Justin,

Does the one for sale you have spotted look like this one or does it look exactly like this one?:tinysmile_twink_t:

cheers

hi Waff. indeed an amazing similarity, only the fuzes seems to have worsened for the new owner?

entre nous: I know the guy who purchased this item. but he asked my to keep the secret, because he fears that BMG50 would make fun of him! at least he has received a 10 percent discount for BOCN-members.

Oops! I must have put the wrong ones on as i had stripped all the lot of those mines for a commission work from one of our fine members in here.I shall post new pics asap.:tinysmile_twink_t:.
Those that i sold were still in good nick for the age.

Mark my words matey that its one and the same!.

Let me give you the heads up.
I had this in my collection and have started getting jumpy because of the ownership of s-mines are in a grey area over in the UK.
I had stripped the fuzes off this one, another one and my smoke/trainer version, sent one of the S mines to my pal for sectioning and some work on the nice one.
The Trainer has stopped at home as its completely empty.
After some nice work off my pal on the cutaway(yet to be shown),i got him to re-assemble the one pictured and sent it back to me.
I then rooted through the box and put on those fuzes as the brass ones are staying on my cutaway.
I then took the pictured one to Leeds to show a pal of mine who wanted a gander at it,not to buy but just look. Our man who has since sold it saw it and we got talking,he then offered me an offer that i could not resist but on condition that i offered it to my pal who has done the cutaway as he had first dabs on it when i wanted to sell..My cutaway chappie didnt want it at that price so i reluctantly let it go.
It went on the new owners stall and then on his website and has now sold.
Top and bottom is that everybody was happy(i hope?) with the deal.I get some cash to buy more ELAZ fuzes, the seller makes money on his new S-mine.
Once its sold by me,ive nowt to do with how much the buyer wants to put on it?
Those fuzes that went with it are in good condition and the 3-way prongy one was ok as well.
Hope this clears up things?

Hi Waff,

You mention that ownership of S-Mines has become a grey area - surely with any inert mine its just a casing and componants and no more dangerous than a empty catering baked bean tin filled with nuts & bolts!

Definatly not having a pop at you mate, just the daftness of well meaning rules!

Best Regards

Justin
