Hi Jack
That,s an interesting combination was it found recently ? and being a 70kg as well

Are you sure this fuze was in this bomb? AV-1 is a propeller operated nose- and tail fuze and if placed on side cavity of a German bomb it for sure does not work ( well, obviously this bomb didn't work :tinysmile_grin_t: )

.

Hello to all! I know the chief ammunition technician from Brandenburg M.Kunzendorf very well, he have me ffteren reported which he German bombs with Russian fuzes to defuse had. It concerned assumed that it German booty bombs those Russia was found.

Ive seen it in print that the Russians used Tail and nose Fuzes in side pockets as well
Its interesting that they have used a German bomb
Im very interested in how the fuze was fitted , being smaller in diameter than German bombs , the fuze itself would function as a impact fuze, as long as the arming had been carried out by the revolutions of the vanes.

It looks like the propeller is changed a little.

The safety wire is still on the fuze or was it put there by the EOD team to stop it rotating ?

I have a poor photocopy of US Technical manual TM-9-1985-7 and there the propeller of AV-1 looks the same as in MB's picture. I recently sold an AV-1 at specialistAuctions and it's propeller was the same.

Still, about assembling a Russian fuze in a German bomb is mysterious, it has much smaller diameter than the German fuze cavity is and needs at least an adapter, further how would the air flow work sideways to activate the fuze? Obviously not that well if so many unexploded have been found. :tinysmile_twink_t:

They are hold in by wouden pluges.
And here a drawing of the normal propeller.

It is АV-1 F fuze, for side installation. Differs from АV-1 only impeller.
Sorry for my English.:tinysmile_twink_t:
