Johnny Walker Bomb

I have recently ordered copies of these folders from The National Archives:
* AIR 2/7758 GENERAL AND WARLIKE STORES (Code B, 41): J.W. bombs for attack of ships in harbour: operational requirements
* AIR 14/992 J.W. bomb for attacking ships
* AVIA 19/693 500lb bomb type J.W: trials

This could also be of interest:
* CSAC 80.4.81/G.28 Aircraft Bombs - 'J.W.' Oscillating Mine

It's held at Oxford University, Nuffield College Library (I have no opportunity to visit/get a copye from there :-/ ).

A few images from MD1 negatives. They may be shown elsewhere:

All these photos and documents are tremendous! Could someone post the dimensions of this bomb: overall length and main body diameter?

The JW prototype:

All these latest pictures of JW are of great interest to me. My late father was the MAEE/photographer for the JW trials at Helensburgh. We now have a memorial at Rhu to those who served at RAF Helensburgh.

“Bombs Gone” mentions trials of the JW MK1 bomb to prove ballistic feasibility of the new weapons, during a series of trials at Porton range in Wiltshire and others. Has anyone come across the trial reports in the National Archive at Kew or elsewhere?

I've researched the JW bomb. It was parachute deployed. I saw no trials reports, that said, I didn't complete a thorough search of the Ordnance Board Proceedings.

Trials of the JW Bomb took place at Porton on 4th and 8th of September 1942. Range 'K' was used. The trials at Porton seem to be concerned with the operation, or otherwise, of the parachute. Bombs used were inert and are listed as 'JW Practice Dummy', 'JW Dummy' and 'Control Bomb'.
