This is not too hard to make. Sketched on the body what I wanted to open, and then used a grinder to cut it out and finished off with Dremel. The innertube was cut with a hand-saw.

Thats a nice example you have made..is your base plug Brass instead of the more common alloy or steel ones
 
Brass base plug indeed. I'm always happy to find these. Filler plug is zinc but I also found ww2-36's with brass filler plugs.
This cutaway is no longer in my collection so I can't look up the text on the base plug anymore. The copy det-group is still here though...
