2 inch trip wire /boobytap clearer

This 2 inch mortar round was used for the clearance of trip and trap wires.Developed in 1943 It is solid metal with a ring welded onto the nose.Fired in the normal way from a 2 inch mortar,it carried a cordtex rope over the area to be cleared.Once laid on the ground the cordtex was detonated leaving in theory a clear path.There is a nice article and more pictures on page 369 in David Gordons book Weapons of the WW2 Tommy...The round shown is a relic missing its tail
