look at #6, he mention there , that he could'nt find it in any US handbook.
Buried somewhere amongst all my boxes I have one of these, complete and still in the shipping container. This will give me a good reason to pull some stuff out this weekend while the wife is away and see if I can find it.
I read someplace (no I don't remember where) that American devices using designations like "Mk. 1 Mod 1" were designed for the Navy. The normal devices M1 M2 etc etc, seem to cross services, but the Navy had their own devices as well, with designations like this. This seems to be of brass construction which would seem to be sensible given that they were most likely designed to get really wet. I expect these were designed for use by UDT teams (now called Seals)
Darryl,
I do remember the one I have being from the Navy. I accquired it in Philadelphia 10 or so years ago from one of the bomb techs there. I'll do my best to find it and get photos up this weekend.
Item found although I seem to have packed the original container and directions for the device in another box.
Anyway, here is the firing device along with the base coupler, tripwire, tension release reel and pressure prongs.
The green paint is the original that was on it when I opened the container and removed it.
