This tail pattern is typical for German 500 kilos and larger bombs. Do you know where this picture was taken? This could be an experimental bomb as there are no markings on it as usually.

I agree with Waffennamt about the nose - loocks like its meant for BB or deep sub surface pen & det.
Casing looks a bit ropey aft of centre line though?? & why is it on a sledge?

The sledge is for transport. Most German heavy bombs where transported this way.
The picture is made at Fliegerhorst Gilze Rijen in the Netherlands during WW2.

I am sorry, Not airbase Gilze Rijen, but Schiphol.

I think the bomb is approx. 1000 kg

It looks like a SB 1000 Kg with a interesting nose configuration.
The nose configuration looks like it's made stronger to prevent it from breaking up when hitting the target.

The SB 1000 kg has a other sort of tail.

It looks more to a SC 1000 kg (Herman) without a nose ring and a unknown nose attachment.

It has the form of a SB and not the SC.
And the tail is not screwed on like the SC by the looks.

The tail from the SC 1000 could also been welded on the body.

The nose looks a little different than a normal Herman, but when you enlarge the picture, you will see that the nose is not the same as from the SB 1000.
