Hungarian Tank Rounds

Hi Tony,

This case very rare in Hungary too. The case length: 266mm, the rim diameter: 88,2mm.
The cannon what fired it, the 75mm 41M L/25 Turn II Tank gun. This gun was developed by MVAG from the Austro-Hungarian 76,5mm 18M Bhler field gun, and it was produced by DIMVAG.

They are for the 7,5cm 42M main gun of the Turn-II tank. The designation of the rounds are:
-7,5cm 42M Pnclrepeszto grnt (HEAT) (It has the 42M PD fuze)
-7,5cm 42/36M Pnclgrnt (APHE) (It has the 36aM base fuze)

Hi Vince,
The HEAT shell's name is not "PnclRepesztő", PR means "PnclRobbant".

Anyway,
The HEAT shells has got the 42a/M head fuze. The 42a/M fuzes used only in the '7,5cm 42M hk. PR grnt' HEAT shells.
The 42M head fuze used in, for example:

  • 7,5cm 42M HEAT shell (for the 7,5cm M15 mountain gun)
  • 8cm 42M HEAT shell (for the 7,65cm 18M field gun)
  • 8cm 29/42M HEAT shell (for the 8cm 29M; 29/38M; and 29/44M Bofors AA guns)
  • 10cm 42M HEAT shell (for the 10cm 14M field howitzer)
  • 10,5cm 42M HEAT shell (for the 10,5cm 37M; and 40M light howitzers)
The 42M and 42a/M fuzes very similar to the 38/40M head fuze, but these made only from aluminium, and the detonator german type.

So, existed old and new type from the 7,5cm 42/36M APHE shells.
The old type: his ballistic cap is not blunted, but tapering, and the case fixing groove with a bigger depth. The waffenamt is his projectile, the new type.

The 36a/M base fuze hasn't got a tracer screw, the mixture it was pressed into the fuze body. You can see in the picture.

The other picture, you can see the 42M tracer screw. It was used in the 7,5cm 42M HE shells.

Just wondering, do these rounds exist with German projectiles and a WaA stamp on the case? I just got this Hungarian round but since I am a case collector I have no clue about the projectile.
