7.62x51mm NATO Ammunition RG Headstamps

That sounds like an RG factory dummy. I have a number of these from different years, but the common feature is the light strike on an inert cap.

It's very easy to tell a dud from dummy...give it a shake and if a dud you will hear the powder inside,I suspect it is not a dud as such but too light a strike to set off the primer...come across buckets of these more so in 5.56mm than 7.62mm

Hi people and apologies if I am not posting in the correct section. I have just joined the forum because i have come across a shoebox full of L45A1 + RG 08 bullets and half a shoe box full of L22A1 T 60 +. ( I have no idea what it means) so I did a google search and found this forum.

SO I registered and was hoping someone could help? as it mentions these markings in this post, now I have no idea what to do with them and dont like the idea of them being in the house. DOes anyone know if they of use to anyone or are they worth anything or what can or should I do.

Do I make bullet chains out of them or something if you could advise I would greatly appreciate it as it looks like you guys know what you are talking about. The big ones (most of them) have red tips???

thanks in advance

First, let's get the nomenclature straight. These are cartridges. "Bullet" refers only to the projectile that is fired.

The 7.62mm rounds headstamped L45A1 are current British issue tracer rounds made at Radway Green in Cheshire. The others are 5.56mm NATO rounds, Made by RUAG at Thun in Switzerland on British contract. They are also current issue tracer rounds. The cross in a circle mark is the NATO symbol that the ammunition meets NATO STANAG standard.

Are these live? if so do you have a Firearms Certificate to cover them? If not and they are live then you have a problem as you are in breach of the Firearms Act.

I will refrain from giving any further advice at this stage.

I have no idea i found them walking the dog down the canal (in a rucksack) it looked like it had been there for days all wet through. I dont know what your referring to they look like bullets to me big things like what they put in sniper rifles on films? I am oblivious n thought I found something worth something! maybe I should hand them in to the police then and when you say live what do you mean it just feels like metal. They look like this

but a bit thinner and pointier and a bit dull in colour (not shiny) looking. They look like mini missile rockets

I can only strongly suggest you hand these in to your local police. Otherwise, at the moment you are looking at about five years for illegal possesion!
