Mini 8 inch.

This ones a mini 8 inch projectile, I understand these were used by salesmen when trying to sell the real thing - certainly easier than trying to carry around a full sized 8 inch projectile.
I forgot to measure it but its about 40mm across.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
Very nice ! Do you have any more of these ? I guess there must be a whole load of these rep rounds to collect.
Best regards Weasel.

mini

Great projectile Dave, I really like that one. Salesmans sample, now that's gotta be a rare bugger...Dano

Thanks guys, no more, no spare, sorry, they'd make a nice collection on their own..if you could find them.
Dave.

Real deal !

Excellent item Dave !
And so nicely marked too.

The only "Reps" samples I ever saw were the real thing taken from the production line just before filling!
One "Rep" I saw had a car boot full of 76 and 105 TK rounds (got me drooling !) bet that would have been interesting if he had been "pulled over" on the motorway:frown:

A friend of mine has one that's rather nice, a mini 18 pounder, this ones a bit smaller than the 8 inch one, about 30mm across.

Dave.

Mini rounds

Great looking items Now just want to put this out there and please note I know very little about this type of stuff but during my apprentiship {as a carpenter mind you} I had to learn how to use lathes and milling machines at a basic level but the machinists, fitters etc in my group had to produce mini exanples of different items Could these rounds be in any way similarly produced???
Once again just putting an idea forward

Hi yes its entirely possible, what makes the 8 inch and 18 pounder nice is the amount of stamping on the base. If there was no stamping then I'd be inclined to agree but then I'm not exactly an expert on these particular items, if someone had full workshop facilities then I suppose the right person could make anything.
Dave.

I have been put onto this thread by another member. I didnt know what I had till I saw this. So here is mine. A British 60 Pdr. in the form of a lighter too. A shrapnel shell that separates at the same point as the real thing and it even has the small screws shown at the join!
Would like to know the manufacturer is, looks like a RF or a PF in a D ?
Richard.

Here are mine as a group, none are marked samples, but all show enough detail to have been made
where real projectiles were.
