RO 76mm projectile specs

Bonnex thank you for that please forgive my not knowing but is it designed to replicate the HE/T shells characteristics in the barrel of the gun. Are they just a solid projectile for this purpose and what is the reason for it having a flat nose. Thanks Mick.

I am not sure why the design is endorsed with "representing the HE/T shell". It may be that there was a proof projectile "representing Cannister" that was heavier. I guess it all depends on what the proof shot was designed for; proving the ordnance (barrel) or say, proving the propellant. I will see if I can find anything useful on the subject.

Bringing back an old thread. Does anyone have any technical information or drawings of the 76mm Armd Car HE L24A1 or L24A2 they can post here? I have no publications available and I have a requirement to prove the item I have has been correctly identified.

Cases for all types of this nature, with the exception of drill and instructional, are to RW175.
This case is 9.1"long with a base diameter over the flange of 3.8" and with a mean neck I.D. of 2.982".

Shells SX508, SX 710 and SX800 are basically the same externally, except SX508, which has a Driving band (DB) machined with a rib.
This rib has been machined off in the other two designs. All DB fixings are the same with three wavy ribs, which have three chisel cuts across.
They all have a groove immediately below the DB to take the case cannelure.
All have a recessed base to take a base plate, which has a projection to take a tracer.

The main differences are internal and to do with coatings and HE fixing.

Here are some 76mm ARMDC round drawings that I copied from ebay.

The documentation shows an SX 732 proof round. Mine is an SX 752, and it is hollow. However, it is heavy and probably every ounce of the 13 pounds it has listed on it. It is going to be a challenge to find the right shade of green for it here in the US.

76mm M330 HE Shell for ARMDC Gun on Scorpion Light Tank and Saladin Armored Car

A batch of these projectiles showed up in the US, and I managed to get only one. It is my understanding these are Belgian made. Marking is "NR525".
