Like most of us when I started collecting I had no money and made do with whatever I could get........well the same is true of my 11 year old son..........which was a bit of a problem when he said he wanted a 1.5 pounder COW gun round just like mine!!
As he didn't happen to have 200 spare (one sold last week on Specialist auctions for that amount) he had to make do and improvise.
First he got hold of one from specialist auctions - the seller has had a few of these on there for a while, they're sea recovered and after a hell of a lot of tender loving care from me plus filler plus hammerite the projectile was done.
Next came the case, well, Malvern was kind last weekend and he picked one up for 3!!
So all in all the projectile was 10 and the case was 3 plus filler/paint so total was about 15 for a complete COW gun round, not bad and he's probably one of the only 11 year olds around with a complete one.
Link below shows the sort of condition it started off as plus some photos of his new round.
