amazing whats goes on

This is a bit of a throwback to the bad old days of the Cold War! This is exactly why we should not be cutting back our defence budgets. WW2 should have taught us that lesson as you just dont know what can flare up in a very short time. Good job the RAF are still on the ball with these sneaky sods and at least lets em know we are ready.

it happens regulary, sometimes a Tu-95 Bear, this time a Blackjack... they are testing the reactivity of occidental Air forces, nothing new!

Don't the pilots usually pull up close enough so they can wave to the crew of the other aircraft and try and get them to wave back?

i don't think a small 15 tons fighter can have such effect on a big 250 tons bomber... it's just intimidation

yeah sure but this could be the start of a World War so, they think twice before doing that !!!

well in Alaska this kind of thing happened and happens sometimes, they break the air space area and quickly get off, most of time with the "help" of US fighters... somtimes in Norway, UK, etc... nothing uncommon or dangerous if everyone stay cool!

The most important thing is they have enough Blackjack now that they can use them for this kind of things... what a plane...

Its right that this sort of thing is nothing new but it only takes one twitchy pilot to change all of that doesnt it? The Russians are just testing the readiness of our aircrews and if necessary the Tornado fighter would knock that Blackjack out of the sky with ease. There is still a degree of truth that the bomber will allways get through though.

And testing the latest ECM signals, the A/C will be full of sensors, detecting the NATO systems etc. Once they cross the lines, the A/C will be bombarded with electronic counter measurers, radar detecting pulses, and the whole communication arround the event will start. Than the have a nice fingerprint. Luckely NATO wont blast all there info towards these A/C.
