Hi,

I have a Hispano projectile fired and I would like to know if it's English and if it's a WW2 manufacturing .

On an English cartridge of 1943.

Thanks.

Bye,
Florent.

I believe this was manufactured at the Royal Ordnance Factory Radway Green. It looks to be a Semi AP Incendiary.

Correct!

Falcon is spot on as usual!

"LG" will be the makers monogram for the hardened tip.

If memory serves me correctly the SAPI and RepSAPI rounds were not available until the early 1950's and when they were made the cases for them all bore the ammo description around the base of the case in addition to the normal headstamp you would expect to find.

Info stamps

Here is a very poor photo of some of the markings for the type of cases used for SAPI or rep SAPI.
Stamps would typically be for;

Type of projectile fitted
Lot number of same
Batch number
Filling station
Date

20mm SAPI

Since the proj. has been fired but has not functioned or been deformed, can I suggest it was inert filled and fired into some sort of bullet trap material?
