41A and Charge

Hear is another 41a Butterfly bomb with a lot of pits or are they rough casting marks as there is still a fair amount of paint remaining.

No signs of any stampings but the fuse fits a treat.

Very nice body and fuze there Phil.

Think you could be right maybe just a rough casting, from the photos the paint looks original enough.

would be nice to see some pics of the markings too!!

Hi Kev

I cant find not even a trace of any markings and normally there were some
at least on the ends.

I have done a tracing paper rubbing just in case but nothing.

Sorry Phil, just re-read your original post and you said no markings.

Does it have the hole in the base on this one??

Who knows bud but i do have others which are realy faintly stamped,
unlike the screw in type charge where they were almost cast into the steel.

Hi Phil,

I agree, I have a bayonet body that just had Bk on the side nothing else, very faint too!!

Nice to find a decent one without the hole in the bottom!! Good find Phil.

Thanks Kev

I might make this a total re build project as i almost have enough bits for a
complete Butterfly.

Will post once on the bench being built:wink:

I look forward to seeing the project as it unfolds (no pun intended !!!)

Kev

Could be a while now Kev as this one now resides in 'collection-waff' :tinysmile_twink_t2:I am on the hunt now for wings and arming wire for the old girl.
I do not have Phils patience or skill to restore it either. :(
cheers
