    Cross of Iron...

Anybody here see "Cross of Iron" with, I think now, James Colbern. Some scenes are very good to watch and from what I see are very accurate. For instance when they throw a grenade inside the tunnel at a russian tank and it explodes. The scene of, well, I do not think I can say here, but the Soviet female scene is kinda good too.

I remember well this old movie from/with Sam Peckinpah/James Coburn and some other good actors in the late seventies of the last century, titled "Steiner - das Eiserne Kreuz" over here.
rather exciting then, with the usual historical flaws (vehicles & aircrafts), but one of the very few movies from the eastern front.
having seen it meanwhile two or three times and in comparison with new war movies, it let me fall asleep today.
to awake, I prefer viewing "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (uncut version of course ) or related stuff.
    all the best

Poor old smelly Schnurbart. I think the book was better than the movie, but that's usually the case.
