Im currently working on a task near to home, nearby is the village of londesborough, Londesborough concert hall, inside the walls are covered with paintings done by german prisoners of war, sadly they are flaking badly but hopefully you will still enjoy these photographs
[FONT=arial, helvetica]The concert hall, was built as a laundry for the Londesboroughs and the inside walls are covered by murals painted during World War 2 by German prisoners, Karl Hans Kruche and Otto Wegener, who were in the P.O.W. camp No. 73 Storwood, Melbourne near York and were brought to work on the local farms.

*note this building is not open for general viewing*

Can they be saved ? there is a lot of inpainting to be done and if the walls are unstable it might be impossible ?

I joined this site so I could see these pictures and my memory didn't fail me. My Mum was born and raised in Londesborough and was a young woman when these were painted. She went to the dances in the Concert Hall and I remember the paintings when I was a girl going to parties etc in the Concert Hall. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
