    Hi Bart,

    The one on the RHS looks like a Type 99 No25 ordinary tail bomb fuse or B-2(a) - similar to the Type 99 Mk 5 (aka B-2(b)) used on the unexploded AP bomb on the USS Virginia.

    Were these extracted from the same Japanese bomb? As the nose fuse on the LHS looks like the matching Type 97 Mk2 Nose fuse Model 2 (or A-3(a).

    Cheers
    Drew

    BTW - Pity it is not a colour photo as the colour on the gaine tip would have indicated the delay

    ie
    Green tip >> 0.03 sec
    Red tip >> 0.10 sec

    Info for all;
    Below are external and internal views of these two fuzes recovered from Guadalcanal.
    For your files. OP1667, Japanese Ordnance states that this tail fuze is only used in the Type 99, No. 25 Ordinary Bomb.
    Regards,
    John aka Bart
