WW2 range finds

It would be pointless taking them off the beach, as they will weep sea water for years afterwards. The 3rd photo is of a creek that changes course every now and again and occasionally reveals what is under the sand when its sides are eroded or one edge deepens. The 4th & 6th photos show pieces of driving band and part of a fuze in the edge of the creek. The 5th photo is the remains of a 4.2 inch mortar bomb - the tail fins are heavily corroded but can be seen in the lower part of the photo. The 7th photo is just to give you an idea of how remote / deserted (for UK) the place can be. The black lumps in the last photo are virtually all pieces of rusted shrapnel. Sometimes they are exposed, sometimes not.

It was made of timber held together with wooden dowels and bronze rods and coated externally in brass sheeting - possibly 19th century? 4 to 7 are possibly part of a vehicle, maybe used as a target in WW2? If anyone can better identify what those things are then please feel free, i would be interested to know. It is the first time I have seen those metal items in about 45 years of going to that beach.

If those a rotating bands there must be a fortune in brass and copper.

Believe me John, even with the values of metals having gone through the roof these last two or three years, it wouldn't pay for even half of the petrol. This is the UK, land of the over-priced, over-taxed and ripped off. I just like finding things and it keeps my eyes practised in looking for things. That and it helps to keep me sane, knowing that more important things than me have happened over the years.
