    Smoke Grenade, Yellow, 83

A new one for me, I've used a few smokes on exercise when I was with cadets but not seen one of these before:

Next questions; How common are they? how expensive? are there anymore colours? and where can I get one?

    Hi Rordog,
I'm sure they are a commercial version as they still use the 'old' Mk4 designation, saying that I'm also sure the military use them on occasion as I have come across white versions of these, unfortunately in rather squashed form! they also carry a civilian type hazord warning on the back of the can ie not to put them down other peoples trousers ect!

    Cheers
    Tony

    I had a feeling they weren't military.

Keep and eye out for one for me, will you?

The military No 83 grenades came in four colours if I remember correctly: Red, green, yellow and blue. On an exercise in 1980 a member of the directing staff initiated an early morning attack by lobbing a blue grenade at my trench. By the time I awoke and realised what was going on it had stained my webbing a nice blue colour.
Any live or dug ordnance shown in my posts has been dealt with accordingly by eod personel
