Ho Hum, picked up another "boring" fuse.............

    Hi All,

OK this is not a boring fuse, it is I believe a Japanese Type 2 Combination time and percussion fuse.

I say "believe" as there are no kanji/arsenal markings on it at all, which is unusual for a Japanese fuse and I'm assuming they were on the "cut-out"piece!

I'm not aware nor can find any reference to other countries besides Japan using this type of fuse??? - if anyone knows if it was in usage by another country please advise.

Robert (Bougainville) has an excellent post on this fuse for those interested:

    http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/thread...pe+combination

and I would love to know who the lucky devil was that scooped up the majority of the other cut-aways that were recently on the US Ebay - great finds!!!!

    Cheers
    Drew

BTW - I think the "boring" jokes will be rolling on for a little while now! :-)

Nice cutaway Drew, thanks for showing. Looks to be very well done.

I did see those cutaways listed on ebay but i did not bid myself as if i remember correctly the seller would not ship to the UK.

That was a real boring find! A good score! It sure is a Type 2 and the internals match perfectly with the diagrams that I have.

It is just a shame that the person who did the sectioning didn't leave the markings intact and section elsewhere. I wished that I could have some boring finds like that. I missed out seeing them on Feebay as it wasn't listed under Japanese and nobody tipped me off.

I'm always looking for good Japanese and old Chinese ammunition, especially in the calibres of 12.7mm and bigger.

    Hi Darren,

Yes it was very well done.

    Robert / Olafo,
Yep not sure why they didn't leave even just one or two of the kanji characters.............hence why I ask if Japan was the only nation to use this fuse?

    Cheers

    Hi Drew,

That last question of yours is more difficult for me to answer. Yes, it by all means looks like the Japanese one all-the-way, but I'm not certain if other nations did or did not use a similar looking fuze... Perhaps "Mr. Fuze" (or someone else specialised in fuzes) can answer that question beyond a doubt; I, unfortunately, cannot.

    Cheers,
    Olafo
