CIS is Chartered Industries Singapore, and GC is a date (letter/number) code for '73.
Hello All. I have been given a 380 revolver mk 2 round, with the head stamp C|S .380 2Z GC It came from a box with a 1974 date on it. Does anyone know what the C|S means ( country, factory etc) As the packaging was military I'm assuming the GC means government contract. The only reference I have is from an English translation of 'Manual of pistol and revolver cartridges' but it does not give any details! very irritatingI hope someone can help.

Many Thanks Jonnyc. Singapore...that's a new one for me.

The Singapore Police used .380 Webleys. There was a model of Webley Mark IV Revolver with a safety catch above the grip made especially for them. The catch can be seen in this photo.

I was wondering why a factory in Singapore was producing 380 ammo. Why did the Singapore police need a safety catch in a different place?
Cheers

They produced ammo because their police were armed with a .380 Webley. The safety catch was added by Webley at the customer's request because the normal Mark IV pistol did not have a safety catch.
Having said that, I do wonder whether the ammo was also produced for another contract as there seems to be a great deal around both in the UK and the US for it to have been just a police order,
