    Granatenwerfer 16

    Hello everyone -

I'm about to come into possession of a Granatenwerfer 16 through a trade. It's just the basic unit, nothing else, so, I could really use some help trying to source spare parts, tools, etc.

    Anyone know where to start?

    Thanks for the help.

    Slick - I sent you a PM, but I don't think it's gone through.

No I don't - just the basic unit. Do you have one?

    The GW 16 arrived!

I've finally had the chance to clean the grime off of the GW16 and give it the once over.

The spring is still strong - it shot a wooden dowel rod a few feet. There are some pieces missing that though - the Schieſsstockkopf (shooting stock head), Schlagbolzan (firing pin) and Zwischenstück (spacer connecting piece). These are circled in the first pic. So, if any of you out there might have these sitting around, or know someone who does, please let me know!

I’m also contemplating restoration and if any is done – how much. The paint looks good so I doubt that will be touched, but I’m thinking of polishing the neck and arc scale.

    Thoughts?

Pretty soon, you're not gonna have to worry about polishing the neck. Color me green.

One of those picklehaubes will look right nice displayed next to it all.

Here is an update on the Gr.W.16.

After the first cleaning I gave it a better, second, cleaning. Nothing abrasive, just a mix of vinegar and water and a very gentle scrub pad. I was surprised to see how well the shiny parts cleaned up!!!

When it first arrived you could only see two red marks on the arc - now you can see three. You can also see a red mark painted in the slash forged in the handle.

Not sure what the off-white spots are, they look like paint splatter. I'd love to get rid of them but am afraid of ruining the paint underneath.
