    Shell, QF, HE, 45mm (1point77 inch)

    DD(L)10557 Shell. QF, HE 45mm (1-77in) Jan 1940.jpg Another experimental design in the 2 to 3 pounder range. This design resulted from a Naval requirement to have a multiple equipment with more punch than the in-Service 8 barrelled 2 Pounder 'M' Mk VI. Designs of shell in 45mm and 47mm were drawn up. Designs date from January 1940. Hope it is of some interest.

    Probably got killed off once the RN realised just how good the Bofors was.
