    Bocn rules and guidelines reminder

Following a lot of recent posts i would like to remind members of the BOCN rules and guidelines, We dont have these rules just for the fun of it many are for your own safety,
For example a few weeks ago a new member posted a piece of ordnance he had found on the somme battlefields and had brought it home into the UK.
BOCN admin contacted him ref the possible dangers of this piece of relic ordnance and advised him to contact the police immediately,,he would not take the advice given to him and made up a load of fairy tales, because we had an idea of what this item could possibly contain for the safety of him and anyone around him it was decided that the authorities would be contacted,
Details of the now former member were passed on to the police and an EOD team attended a property he was at and removed a FULL WW1 German GAS projectile.
This is not the first time we have liased with the authorties and no doubt wont be the last.
If you have any doubt at all about an item contact your local authorities and let them deal with it,if it wasnt for the member of BOCN admin who dealt with the authorities ref the gas projectile i dread to think what could have happened..

please take a few minutes to refresh yourself on the sites rules and guidelines ,they are there for a reason mostly your safety.

The BOCN Rules and Guidelines can also be found located at the top of the following forums..

Only Ordnance approved Members can post images of live or dug ordnance.
These members are persons who are employed or have been employed in Legitimate ordnance clearance or EOD for professional companys or governments.

The only exception is Historical images ,news articles etc.

Discussion in detail of EOD procedures, or other inerting techniques is not permitted on site even by members who are "ordnance approved"

Do not discuss in detail any explosive compositions on site

No discussion or displaying of material to do with IEDs.This also applys to Ordnance Approved members.

Do not disclose exact locations of current or scheduled clearance tasks,or other locations where
ordnance may be found by the general public

This ruling was implemented for public safety and security reasons

If you think you qualify be in the "ordnance approved" group please contact me via PM with your details
Ordnance Approval will only be considered for members who have been active on site for 4 weeks or more

Following discussions with BOCN moderators it has been decided that "Posting images of privately owned LIVE firearms/other weapons is not permitted on BOCN".

We appreciate laws relevant to the posession of Firearms/weapons are different from country to country ,but this is a BOCN rule
The only exceptions are images showing military or other official personnel (police etc),
    Historical photographs ,
    museum collections,
deactivated weapons are permitted on site
providing images of deactivation stamps/ the deactivation certificates are also shown in the post
Blank firing/other firearms used by legitimate re-enactment groups are also permitted.
Please state which category your weapons fall into, blank firing, deactivated ,replica etc etc and when and where possible a picture to prove this
failure to abide by this ruling will result in the post been removed without any notification.
This ruling comes into effect from today 05/12/09 previous postings will not be affected

    Reporting live ordnance
Within the UK we have a system in place for reporting suspect items of Ordnance, wether dug up, found, in a collection or shop etc etc.

First of all, contact the Police, they will put in place a system to have the item removed or destroyed by an EOD team that are always on 24/7 standby for the public safety (its their job, so dont be sorry).

In the event of it being free from explosive they do have the jurisdiction to hand back to you as it is your property and not theirs unless it has explosive inside (or unless you have stolen it).

Don't worry about speaking with the Police, rather you be safe than loosing parts of your body and it gives them something different to deal with. They will not arrest you (normally) or put you in court unless you are doing something very dodgy / terrorism / working outside normal rules of FAC and/or explosive handling, producing something nasty, have a launch mechanism for a missile (please check home office guidance or policeguidelines).

The above is for UK but other countries will have similar procedures in place

    CopyrightedRestricted Material
Could all members please be carefull when posting images from other souces. If the image has "copyright" or other writing on it saying it is from elsewhere please ask for the image sources permission before posting them on BOCN.
All material posted to BOCN, unless explicity stated grants BOCN full rights of use, however the content remains the responsibility of the poster.
This is not just for the benefit of the site it is for your benefit as well ,the last thing i want to see is someone getting prosecuted for copyright theft
If you post a copyrighted image please state "you have permission to use the image" otherwise the image will be removed
all images/documentation which may be subject to copyright law is posted by members at their own risk and BOCN will not accept any liability for items posted or any action taken against the image/document poster

    Ref military restricted documents
No displaying of current classified material (even RESTRICTED). For British protectively marked material 'current' is generally taken to be anything under 30 years old (there are exceptions as some documents do get released for public use,if in doubt contact one of the Ordanance Approved super moderators).

Can all members please NOT post items for sale in the general forums (this includes the TIP OFF section) and use the "Classified" section which is located top centre of your screen
.Any items listed for sale/trade or wanted in the general forums and not in classifieds or the wanted items section will be removed by admin/moderators without notice
