    .5" Vickers Ammo Box.

Picked this ammo box up at the car boot sale. I suspect it is a .5" vickers box as it is the same as my .303 vickers box only wider. Can anyone tell me how many rounds it would have held Cheers Mick.

Not sure, but probably 50 rounds. Richard Fisher should know.

Looks very similar to a 100rnd belt box shown at the bottom of the box section on this site http://www.vickersmachinegun.org.uk/acc-ammunition.htm

Any Live or Dug ordnance shown by me has been disposed of by military EOD personnel .

It should be 100 round. Co-incidentally that is Richard's site.

I would say it is .5 vickers, will measure mine and post some dimensions later.

    Good Evening All,

Yes, it's the 100-round ammunition box for the .5-inch Vickers and would have held a 100-round cloth belt. It's of the type used for Armoured Fighting Vehicles.

    Cat No. C2/BG 0022, List of Changes A 7772, BOXES, BELT, Vickers .5-in. M.G., No. 2, Mk. I - For one 100-round belt; Tinned-plate

    Regards

    Richard
