I won this on ebay UK, something new to me. Needs all the small screws & bits, but what is there is decent enough.

What a Great item Gordon!

I've never seen one before and I have been collecting 18 pdrs and No. 80 fuses for years.

Don't think I can recall them even mentioned in the 18 pdr handbooks I have, and they have diagrams of all sorts of tools/accessories - will have to have a look after work tonight now.

Seems to be quite elaborate and intricate for such a simple setting requirement, and there doesn't seem to be much advantage in the size of the scale over that on the fuze itself.

Do you think 2-19 refers to Feb 1919?

Thanks for showing it.

Cheers,

Graeme

I checked both my early (1915) and later (1940) 18 pdr handbooks and neither have any reference to this fuze setter. They both only refer to Fuze Setter No. 18, which is a simple ring and lever device for use "when the lower time ring is too stiff to set by hand".

From Textbook of Ammunition 1926.

This one is very similar, but slightly more complicated with MV settings etc. I am sure the date is for Feb 1919, I also think it is some what universal in that the centre cone part can be taken out and another one for a different time fuze could be put in easily enough, so it might be part of a larger set or at least have those options.
