Hi Mick,

If the insert is wood then it was a Bulleted blank, for use with the Bren Gun but only when fitted with a shredder barrel. The barrel had a bar 2/3 of the way down and when the blank round was fired the wooden bullet would hit the bar and break in small splinters. using a wooden bullet allowed the the working parts to work as normal.
All the Best.
Richard

Thanks for the help Richard. It appears to be some sort of fibre type material or wood composite im not too sure. Cheers Mick.

Yes, its a bulleted blank with the bullet broken off. Made by Artillery Inrichtingen, Hembrug in Holland.
