Can anyone give me an idea or colour match to the 'lead' colour for 12 and 14pr projectiles for British naval service(ref.Treatise on Ammunition 1915).
Am i right in thinking some sort of dark grey?

cheers
Bob

A bit of reseach on the net all i could find was a modern reference to - Dulux, Ebony mist 3 . Anybody else got any more/better info?

cheers

I kept quiet on this as I don't know the correct answer other than the manuals say lead grey and no doubt pre dates RAL no.s or colour charts. Mine is darkish grey spray auto primer, same as the 15pr QF shrapnell.

Thanks 2pounder,
sounds similar to what i found, also managed to get a Humbrol match, very like the Dulux one.
The issue was confused as when i read the older treatise/textbooks ,lead was mentioned but usually as a pigment, white or red!.
