hallo kees,

de enige die dichtst in de buurt komt is 71cm lang, ook de drijfbanden zijn dan smaller

hello,
the only one that comes close is 710mm ,but also the drivingbands are smaller.
but i know that there are variants,it would be nice to find documentation.

Or is it maybe without the ballistic haube? have to check the WW1 ordnance. You know for sure it's a German shell? Since the French had this calibre too in WW1.

When you flip it over, how big is the cavity? Is there a plate with a lower fuse thread? I can imagine that flipping this one over is not done easily.

I bought him for a german, but may perhaps have another nationality.
Therefore i find it so strange that i find no info.
The bottom plate is gone, but must have been 22 cm.
I think it will be difficult to ID

Joery,

Interesting projectiles!!!

Is there any chance you can take a closer photograph of each of the two projectiles and post them here for those like myself who have no access to these types of projectiles? I and I'm sure many others would greatly appreciate such photos.

Thank you in advance!

Brian

The driving band does not look German.

are you sure of the driving band? see photo
a Friend collector also has a German navy 280mm grenade ww1 and has the same driving bands, but his grenade is shorter
he found those back in documentation.
when I go over there I take pictures.

If it is German it should have some markings stencilled whch should allow for a positive ID.

it looks to me as an English AP projectile i have the same but bigger 15 inch but same driving bands. Ben

It's very similar to the 28cm Spgr L2,9 of Kriegsmarine.
I have trouble with the design of your drivingbands !
