Last week I visited the museum at Crecy, Northwest of Abbeville, near the site of the famous medieval battle. As well as the expected medieval info (very interesting) there was a section of the museum devoted to WW2, although some of the items were actually WW1 fuzes. There was a model of a V1 launch site, showing the different kinds of buildings and their uses. Also in the museum was a large chunk of the wing of a B17 bomber and the wheel of a Mosquito aircraft. I will post photos when I get them transferred to a CD.

As promised. Not sure why they are mixed up, I inserted them all as a block.CNV00159.JPGCNV00150.JPGCNV00147.JPGCNV00146.JPGCNV00166.JPGCNV00145.JPGCNV00144.JPGCNV00165.JPGCNV00162.JPGCNV00163.JPGCNV00164.JPGCNV00161.JPGCNV00149.JPGCNV00148.JPGCNV00140.JPGCNV00143.JPGCNV00158.JPGCNV00142.JPGCNV00141.JPGCNV00157.JPGCNV00156.JPGCNV00154.JPGCNV00155.JPGCNV00153.JPGCNV00152.JPGCNV00151.JPGCNV00160.JPG

This site is at the Southwest edge of the village of Gueschart, a few miles to the East of Crecy. Some of the buildings are visible from the main road that passes the village. The buildings seem to have been placed in hedgerows / treelines for camouflage - the modern aerial photo gives no real hint of what is there. I counted at least eight buildings but there may be a few more. The building in photos 5, 6 and 10 had had the central column between the two openings removed, (that is why there is a large crack over the centre) presumably by a farmer, to allow farm machinery to be placed in the building. It would have looked like that in photo 4. 13 to 25 show the remains of a tall structure and possibly the site of the launch ramp about 50 metres away.
