My new Rocket motor for the Nebelwerfer 41 32 cm.

A bit rusty and needs a good clean/wash.

What can I clean it with? any ideas? :hmmmm2: don't want to wipe the yellow markings off. :argh:

I never thought I'd get a motor, certainly not in a good as condition as this one. Absolutely delighted with it.

Many thanks to:

An easy and gentle way to remove rust is a bath of ordinary household vinegar ( 5 - 10%, whatever you get from grocery shop ). You could start soaking it vertically about 5 cm deep and see what happens. The process is slow but you have to keep an eye on it all the time and lift off when necessary. Depending to type of rust it may take several days before rust gets loose.

Could the bottom piece with the holes on it, be removed/taken off?
Would the vinegar help loosen it?

Bottom piece has very fine thread and it may unscrew - or not, depending of rust between thread. Vinegar or other acids do not necessarily penetrate deep enough. After vinegar bath if it does not unscrew let it dry properly and try a cold schock ( there is a spray containing very thin oil and chemical which cools thee item to -40 dergrees fast ). This may break the rust.
