I came across this the other day whilst walking along part of the coast path in Pembrokeshire.
Does anyone know what type of tank its off?
I didn't happen to be carrying a ruler at the time but I'd estimate it to be about 20 inches (50cm) wide.
Dave.

Thanks Rich, funny you should say that, there were a few other bits nearby that made me thing they may be from a Churchill.

I've often considered collecting track links since it was tanks that got my interest in ordnance....does any one collect them out there and want to share photos ??

Rich I could very easily get on the slippery slope of collecting tank tracks.
So far I have one......http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/threads/72886-Tiger-tank-link?highlight=tiger+track...........and am being very strict on myself and not buying more!
I think they are a wonderful bit of history, a great conversation piece!
From what I've seen there are a couple of diggers who sell their stuff on ebay, mainly German tank tracks.
If you buy on line take a close look at the pictures, from trawling the various forums some come up for sale that have been repaired/rewelded - take a close look at some of the ones in the photo http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=360256
German tracks especially for Tigers seems to be fairly expensive, there seem to be quite a lot of Panther ones around at the moment. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-...180?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c6c28f84
An elefant track on ebay at the moment seems to be ridiculously expensive but I guess its rare http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEGA-RARE...078?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f17f99856
The smaller German tank tracks are much cheaper http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW2-GERMA...Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item4ad2cb2fad
Russian tracks are cheap be beware of postage. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WWII-orig...282?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f15254372
US or British ones don't seem to be as widely available http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW-II-USA...408?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a8edb4ed8
WW1 tank tracks are expensive if they ever come up for sale.

I went metal detecting south of Canterbury many years ago and found a few tracks for Bren gun carriers, i then found out what there worth and cannot find them any more,,,,,,,, Dave

I don't collect links per se, but I do have quite a selection in my shed. Most Sherman types, including CDP and HVSS, quite a few different cruiser tanks, a few infantry and a couple of Tiger 1. The majority found on ranges.

When you're next near your shed would you mind snapping a few photos of them please?
Thanks.
Dave.
