From left to right;
76mm T4E20 HVAP carrier and penetrator dated 1945 (total weight 9lbs 6 oz. Tungsten core 4 pounds)
76mm M93A1 HVAP carrier dated 1953 (total weight 9 lbs 7oz. Tungsten core 3 lbs 15 oz. Carrier and penetrator both slightly taller than T4E20)

Late summer 1944 the first T4 HVAP was sent to France. HVAP was used in both M26 (539R) and Mk2MII (585R)cases.
By fall 1944 they were using T4E17 (no steel jacket around penetrator).
By late 44' early 45' they were using T4E20 (adjustable nose plug).
By February 1945 the T4E20 was standardized as M93 (no changes).
At some point the base tracer element was changed to a screw in type with new classification M93A1. No significant changes in design from WW2 all the way to the end of the Korean war.
With the new M32 76mm gun developed for the Walker Bulldog (circa early 50s) came a new 76mm case (580R) and new projectile/carrier (M319) that seated deeper into the case.

Anybody have any of the missing links?

Found one of the missing links in the American 76mm HVAP evolution: an M93 with carrier dated 1945, tungsten penetrator dated 1945. It is identical to the T4E20, both cores weighing 3 pounds 15+ oz.
Almost identical to the M93A1 except the A1 has a screw in tracer element. Photo of the M93 on left, T4E20 on right.
