Hi Folks

This is my first post on your forum. Have to say that there is a fantstic amount of information here so much in fact I do not know where to start looking so apologise if this posting is in the wrong place.
I have recently aqquired a shell cartiridge/case and would like to know more about it origins.

I understand it is Italian and was used during WW1, it has an overall length of 277mm the open end having an internal dia of 74.5mm.
The centre of the base ( the percussuion cap ? ) has 3 locating indents and the stamps G.I.P. and MOD 912.
The outer ring of the base has the markings
E
917
5'M
CA with in a circle
OFFICINE VILLARPEROSA
Also has a badge.
These markings can all be seen by following this link

Regards
Pete
