I don't think this is a mere toy, but a scale manufactures model. But not a one of.
If any one knows of another example it would help greatly to restore this one which has
suffered some abuse. The length of this muzzle to spade is 27 inches.

That is a work of art. The workmanship is outstanding. It would be a pleasure to restore it, and the abuse it has suffered is a crime against all. You were very lucky to have found it.

The antique dealer dropped it bringing it into the shop then threw out the broken bits --- an absolute idiot --- as told to me. But I'll do what I can with it. Mainly fix the wheels and make the things move that should, beyond working out a breech block I won't try to add missing items other than those absolutely necessary.
I would love to find out about another example, details from a complete one would be very helpful indeed.

I have only ever seen one of similar scale and design. It was a WW1 vintage shore battery gun and emplacement. Very intricate and detailed. A near mint example. Sadly, they had $2800 on it and wouldn't budge. None of my toy cannons comes close to either. Congrats on the find. I agree, minimal resto. It is what it is.

I need to find some one with a real gun and get a good set of images of the breech block and levers etc.

German WWI 105mm at Fort Sill.jpgIt looks like there is one at Fort Sill, OK. I will see if I can get some pictures next time I am there.

It turns out that it is an Austrian M14 15cm howitzer ! fine images on the Landships site.

It's a 10cm ~ no 15cm M14

But then of course it is not a 15cm but a 10cm M14 - they look similar, but differences in the breech and a few other things
pin it down for sure ~ There are two examples in France at Verdun of all places.
