Hi All,
Can anyone help identify what type of ordinance was likely carried in this modified Queen Mary trailer please? This is the second one I've seen so it's not a random cobbled together carrier. It's well made out of riveted aluminium panels with a crew cab at the end fitted with a bench seat. It is also fitted with a primitive air conditioning system with electric heaters running along its length and an extractor fan fitted in the end. The roof has a removable panel to allow a gantry crane to load the munition and the front end has a nose cradle fitted.
The internal light fittings suggest to me that it's either late war or early post war and I'm guessing due to its size perhaps a Grandslam transporter or maybe some sort of early nuclear weapon.
Thanks
