Here is an item winging its way through the post to me. Does anyone know what projectile this fits? Thank you for your help.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are two versions of this fuze Bd.Z. DOV (first drawing) which is aluminium (M8owner picture) and Bd.Z. DOV (Pr.) which is bakelite (your pic, second drawing.

Hum, to be completely correct, there are three version : aluminium (1pic), bakelit (plastic, 2pic) and steel (3 pic).
