Unidentified Shell

Picked up this curious shell today; approx 184mm in height and 88mm across the base. There is a approx 23mm threaded hole in the top.

Hello,

A shell from the familiy of "lead coated shells". The large band made of lead is missing on your round.
For example, Germany (Prussia) used this kind of shell in 1870 during the war in France.
Dimensions matche with 9cm Gr. (89mm x 184mm).

Thanks for that info MINENAZ16. Looks to be the one, alright. I did wonder what the marks along the side were; chisel marks where the lead has been stripped off!
