Hi I really need help here ... I just won this oerlikon 35mm on an Auction site , I am really freaked out by the base Fuze , I know these are HEI but I am really concerned if there is anything in this , the shell case was empty dated 81 struck primer it was still crimpted in case but not to tight . The projectile base has vice marks . and a hole punched in the center copper bit ?????
please any thoughts

thanks Ken

It looks like a standard nose-fuzed HEI to me, with an alloy nose plug as a dummy fuze. In which case, the only thing it might have in the base is a tracer. Should be easy enough to check - measure how thick the base is by comparing inside and outside measurements; tracers occupy quite a lot of space.

Thanks Tony about 45mm ?? Tony i seen the same one on your web site would the HE filler be in the nose end of the projectile ??? Are these hard to unscrew would it be anti clockwise
cheers Ken

Looking at the pictures i believe it is an 35mm TP-T ULD witch is incorrectly painted. I tried to get a picture in but i am at work and the settings do not allow me to get a picture in :frown:

Sounds very likely. For many rounds TP are commonplace but HE almost unobtainable (e.g. 27 x 145B). So if a TP or dummy uses the same body and nose profile with only the paintwork being the obvious external difference from HE, then a repaint is a cheap way of getting something that looks like an HE on the shelf!

I don't think its a repaint , why the change in opinion, I've shown this to various people now and they say its HEI

Hello
The fuze is not a 25x228 HEI-T is a fuze of a TP or TP-T,
This is somewhat shell be an exhibition or training rounds, fuze does its not interchangeable.
