Hi everyone,

I thought this might be of interest.

The Council for British Archaeology and Historic England are working with project partners across the UK to record and map the physical remains of the First World War in the UK. The aim of the project is to rediscover sites on the Home Front that remain from the First World War and help us to better understand the impact of the First World War.

So far all but 44 of the National Factories established by the government during the war to produce everything from bullets and shells through to wooden boxes and gas masks have been recorded.

Given the expertise on this forum tracing and recording the 'missing' factories, and any other factories producing items for the war effort, might be something some of you would like to get involved with. You can register on the website to access the Member Toolkit and Online recording form.

You can take a look at the records here-

There's also a Facebook page- www.facebook.com/HomeFrontLegacy

Kind regards,

Chris
