Panzer Bosch Headlight Restoration

Finally got the new base part, although it's incorrect, it is a base from another German vehicle for a headlight.

I'm not sure this will work as it's rather small..

The original part is a much more complicated forging,I assume you want to keep it as close to original as possible so a modern casting would be out of the question, you have done great to get it this far, pity an original part is not available,
Cheers,
Don,

I agree Don, it's impossible to get a original housing, but it's not worth worrying about.

Latest pictures with the base added.

It just needs a bit more paint to the new base/stand and I should get it back next week, hopefully.

I will then add the final chapter to this restoration.

Looking good, brilliant, (pic 2 forgive the pun),a bit of lateral thinking,,,,you would have thought it would have been easier for the design team to use an existing heavy duty lamp from an existing AFV rather than design a whole new lamp, commonality of parts/cost/design time etc,
Cheers,
Don,

I suppose so Don, but we will never find out now..

That's great,I would imagine that the lamp is quite a rare item,it is good to see it restored to working condition, well done,I think there s a chance I might know where you could get a new base cast if you want to go down that road,
Cheers,
Don,

Thing is Dave.. I don't have a original one to copy.

I've finally got it home as they say.. and it's even better than I could imagine.

So there you have it, a relic piece from one of the mighty Panzers, brought back to life after 70 years lying in the ground.

That is a very interesting table lamp you have there and how rare is that, full marks for restoring what was a basket case to a fully working object,
Cheers,
Don,
