Hi all,
I present this 8 cm aircraft rocket HE recently discovered in Paris. I think it's a German copy made after the Russian model. If anyone can tell me a little more about its pedigree and fuze, I thank him in advance.
Great specimen! :O
But I don't think it's an aircraft rocket, it's rather a ground launched artillery rocket - an igniter coupled with suspension lug can be seen in the 5th picture, what is distinctive for the ground launched variant.
I'd also say, the 8 cm R-Sprgr is paterned after a later variant of the Soviet M-8 rocket, TS-34 or so.
The 8 cm R - Sprenggranate was developed by Waffenwerke Brün (former and later Zbrojovka Brno).
8 cm - R - Vielfachwerfer Somua 5 t was the launcher vehicle.
The base of the warhead is screwed both to the ogive and the motor.
I can remember being told the fuze is activated by a lead -safety-ring melting away after launch by the heat of the burning fuel stick, hence the protruding ring at the base of the warhead.
Regards, DJH
I all,
Thank you for all your interesting answers. For my part, I also conducted my investigation and came to the same conclusions.
Thank you again for your help.
