Unrotating projectile 7"

Rocket UP 7"

This is the 7 inch rocket for the recent thread about barrage balloons and trailing wires with explosive devices attached to the wires to catch on the wings of aircraft. They were mounted in 20 battery tubes, on the decks of ships and fired in salvoes of 10. They were on HMS Hood but were not thought to have been a contributory factor in the massive explosion.
This particular rocket was developed in conjunction with the 2 inch and 3 inch "Z" battery systems operated by the Home Guard.
See particularly the Type "L" Mk 2 coloured plate which I reproduced from BR 932, which is in downloads.
This black and white picture shows the rocket end and the coloured plate in the other thread shows the suspension end without the rocket motor.
The coloured plate refers to the "L" Mk 2 but the text is for the Mk 1 which looks quite different with the contents being reversed.
