Lacquered Steel 57mm case 1944

I have this 57mm lacquered steel unfired case. No primer. For information, when did the US start manufacturing steel 57mm cases? I did a search here and found much info on US 57mm, but nothing citing steel cases. I had been on the lookout for a brass case, but acquired this one about a month ago instead. Not sure a 1942 M70 dated projectile would be a match for it.
All feedback appreciated. " Lot CCO .3 8 1944. 57MM. M23A2B1, flaming bomb."

Since your case is dated 44, a 42 dated projo wouldn't really be a good match. The U.S. started making steel cases in the last half of the war. The usual steel case that you see from the war is the 3 inch antiaircraft/antitank case. There were a lot of the brown lacquer 57mm steel cases used on the 57mm drill rounds.
