Nice story, but unfortunately Megiddo is nowhere near Rosh HaAyin. Lots of other battles/skirmishes/maneuvers have taken place in Palestine/Israel using Mausers and SMLEs, but without any headstamps or other datable evidence, the artifacts could have gotten there any time between 1914 and 1950.
